令和絵巻に見る仁和寺と戊辰戦争 特別展

Ninnaji Temple and the Boshin War: A Special Exhibition of Digitized Scrolls for the Modern Times

 

仁和寺に伝わる「戊辰戦争絵巻」上下巻全長40メートルの絵巻の中で繰り広げられる激動の幕末維新物語。

超高精細デジタル撮影によりクローズアップされた歴史的瞬間の数々。

最新の技術によりデジタル彩色を施すと、絵巻に息が吹き込まれました。

 

This special exhibition highlights the turbulent story of the end of the Tokugawa shogunate and the Meiji Restoration as depicted in the 40-meter picture scrolls called the Boshin Senso Emaki (Boshin War Picture Scrolls). These very important historical scrolls are currently under the care of Ninnaji Temple.

The picture scrolls are filled with close-ups of historical moments digitized at ultra-high definition using state-of-the-art scanning technology developed at Kyoto University.

The picture scrolls were brought to life by digitally colorizing them using the latest available technologies.

1　見比べて楽しむ！　Side by Side Comparison of the black-and-white original and the digitally colored version

明治時代に描かれたオリジナルの「戊辰戦争絵巻」と令和にデジタル彩色を施されて復元された「戊辰戦争デジタル彩色版」。
この2つが並べられ、原寸大で展示されます。見比べてお楽しみください。

 

The original “Boshin Senso Emaki” created in the Meiji era and the “Boshin Senso Digital Color Version” digitally colored in the Reiwa era could be compared side by side.

 

2　触って楽しむ！　Interactive touch display using ultrahigh resolution images

絵巻の超高精細デジタル画像をタッチディスプレイに収めました。隅々まで大きく拡大して楽しめます。
日英2か国語の解説を読んでさらに想像をめぐらせることもできます。

 

The ultrahigh resolution digital images of the scroll are mounted on interactive touch displays. You can enjoy and explore every inch of the painting and zoom in and out of the scenes to make it more fun and interesting.
You can also read the bilingual commentary in English and Japanese to further tease your imagination.

 

3　動画で楽しむ！　Animated short film using scenes from the colorized scrolls

絵巻にエフェクトやナレーションを加えたオリジナルショートムービー「鳥羽伏見の戦い～仁和寺宮の一ヵ月～」を会場で上映します。
絵巻から垣間見える物語を、ぜひお楽しみください。

 

An original short movie “The Battle of Toba-Fushimi：A Month of Ninnaji-no-Miya on the battlefield,” which adds effects and narration to the emaki, will be shown at the venue.
Please enjoy the story in the emaki.

※本券には御所拝観料（800円）が含まれます。
